Message From The President

There they lay, rectangular sheets of paper spread out upon my bed.  Some were torn, some still had safety pins in them; all were wrinkled.  Little sheets of paper once almost thrown away, discarded for their lack of value.

Something inside me stirred, an emotion swelling.  Not pride... something different.

There they lay, 1565... 166... 5244... 154... 47... 133... 929... and many other numbers proudly proclaiming their day.

Every numbered bib brought a rush of memories.  I knew why I kept the racing bibs... I knew it was more than the race... it was more than the joy of crossing the finish line...

... it was the memories of those who trained with and shared the moment with me...  I know this emotion now!
